Re: Upper A arm stud difference?
Ah crap
The direction don't mention a year split. 63-70 and 71-72 Had to look on their website to see that Are the crossmembers interchangeable? Or can I press out the studs and put them in my frame. I kind of like the idea of using 9/16" studs instead if the smaller 1/2" ones. Or am I being anal? |

Re: Upper A arm stud difference?
I have a 72 c10 and just had to buy and press in a new stud as when i took it apart that stud spun and stripped the splines. I was happy it didn't make the hole bigger, new splined bolt and done. That is a hardened strong bolt I don't see why you would need it larger unless your building a 4x4 off road monster.?? Maybe use a sleeve over your bolt as a spacer inside the arm hole??

Re: Upper A arm stud difference?
Ahhh s***
Talked to the CPP guy and he has no idea what I have. He said the year difference is in ball joint design only, not stud size. Says they only have one size cross shaft. Does this sound right guys? I don't know what to do now. I sent him the pictures you all see. I already have the rear end done (C-notch, crossmembers, trailing arms) so it's not some frame from another style of truck. Ugg this sucks. Seamus: what size were those studs? |

Re: Upper A arm stud difference?
Interesting
The larger stud is on my C20. The smaller one is on this short bed frame, so I'm guessing C10. Yeah, I don't even see a 3/4 ton option on LMC. Why would CPP only make their arms to fit the larger stud? I dunno. When I go down to CPP to exchange some other stuff I bought I'll take a look at their other arms etc. I don't like the idea of running a sleeve but I might have to. I'm also missing one dished spacer |

Re: Upper A arm stud difference?
My 72 C10 has 1/2 studs and I'm running CPP tubular control arms.

Re: Upper A arm stud difference?
Thanks guys
I guess that's one if the differences between C10 and C20? Dammit, I got to take this up with CPP again. Luckily I don't need to ship stuff |

Re: Upper A arm stud difference?
Ok, well CPP says it's loose to help with caster adjustments. I don't like it. I'm having a buddy make up some bronze bushings for it. It wont be tight, but at least it wont be "$2 whore loose".
While looking over the stuff I need to reuse, I'm short one spacer. It's #10 on LMC site. The problem though, they only list the 3/4 ton spacer, which is way different. I need a bare minimum of one more, but would love 4 new ones. Anyone have another outlet for these? Mine looks like a thick washer, one side flat and the other dished. |

Re: Upper A arm stud difference?
I'm trying to find two of the concave washers myself. Bodyman took the front end apart and lost the parts for one side! Did you have any luck tracking some down? There is a great picture of them from the forums here:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=530641 I read somewhere that apparently LMC part #10 from this diagram is a spacer for 3/4 tons. Based on the diagram I ordered #13 and #14 but they are indeed a flat washer and nut, not the dished washer I'm looking for. I've tried wrecking yards but so far no luck. Other than tracking down a donor parts truck I may have to go to a machine shop to get two fabricated. |

Re: Upper A arm stud difference?
I found some at my local junkyard. I'm guessing they were off a different year truck cause the shape was a little different. BUT, they worked just the same, no problems between the two shapes.
