just bought a 69 gmc three on the tree and came with floor shifter brand new in the box, and was wondering how hard it was to convert it. it doesnt look too hard, just switch the linkages and cut a hole for it. is there a write up on it anywhere or any help on it

Re: column shift to floor shift
Good shifter. I've used a couple of them.
The centre bolt that goes right thru the shifter and the bracket needs a small fix. The lock washer won't keep the nut from backing out and the shifter will get sloppy in a hurry. Remove the nut and lock washer, put the nut back on, snug up the bolt until the shifter is tight, then drill a hole right thru the nut and the bolt and put a cotter key in the hole. In that way it will never get loose. |
