best anti theft switch/toggle whats your thought
looks like im going to be using my K20 as a DD for a few month. I want to install a anti theft switch. I remember people used to use a toggle switch connected the hot wire of the coil. Is this the best way??
Whats your thoughts or what have you done. mine is a 85. Not FI or TBI. Its a carb with a Hei dizzy. I could always put an alarm, but i want to make it as if they are going to steal it they are going to have to use a tow truck.. |

Re: best anti theft switch/toggle whats your thought
My favorite was when I used the cigarette lighter as the switch. Without the cigarette lighter pushed in, my vehicle would not crank.
So not only was there a "switch" but you could take the lighter with you in your pocket pretty easy. Not that it is very hard to bypass once you know where it is, but that was the idea to slow them down so much they'd get frustrated and leave and move on to the next one.

I had an 79 automatic, with a 78 manual wiring had a NSS attached to a clutch pedal. Since i had to clutch in the auto i could push the switch in manually so no start.

6.2 diesel with manual glow plug switch under the dash. Simply will not start without glows, and no one knows how long to hold them if they even can find the switch.

Re: best anti theft switch/toggle whats your thought
had a toggle in the neutral safety switch, it fit right into the factory plug, worked nice tucked up under the dash, on off or switch removed

Same thing here, even more fun when you label that switch, FOG LIGHTS. Keeps them guessing everytime.

Re: best anti theft switch/toggle whats your thought
No, the lighter did not actually work.
Anyways, unless you had just started your truck and then decided to kill it and lock it up and take it with you... it would be totally cooled.

Re: best anti theft switch/toggle whats your thought
That was always my favorite idea, some kind of fuel kill switch. No fuel no go! And no bypass cause you can buy those ones that have a big weird key/lever thing that you can take out of the truck with you if you want to. They had them on that show "My classic car".

Re: best anti theft switch/toggle whats your thought
Anyone look into the magnetic kill switch? You carry a magnet on your key chain or on your dash and when you put it over the magnetic relay and start the truck. And the current would keep the switch closed till you killed it.

I have used this method many times. The best thing here is it will not turn over so they have no idea why it wont start.

Re: best anti theft switch/toggle whats your thought
No choke carb and a engine that won't run unless warm. Add manual steering and your basically the only person that can drive it.

Seems these days if it has a clutch pedal, it's safe.
