Chambered Muffler Tubes Please Help

Its time to redo the exhaust on my crew cab and i am looking for a sound similar to that of the late 60’s Chevelles and Camaros with the chambered exhaust factory option. I have found a few websites that custom make this style muffler as it seems they are no longer mass produced. My truck is a stock 1986 454 and I was planning to run a full 3in dual exhaust with headers and h pipe. I understand that the sound of the old muscle cars is due in part to the cam choice but I just want something close for now and ill deal with the cam later. So my questions are

1) has anyone used any of these companies, if so is their product any good?

2) is there anyone else that makes this style muffler?

3) if anyone has experience with these mufflers is their any change in tone that would result by using a 3in dia. muffler tube opposed to say a 2 ¼ in

4) How does the over all length of the tube change the tone of the exhaust?

Here are links to the companies I found, and I attached a picture of the mufflers I’m talking about for clarity’s sake

Thanks in advance!

halfway decent video of them. gets that funny thumping sound like a stock set up with a loud muffler. could be how it was set up or just the stock engine

I can't remember the brand. The sound they made forever ingrained. It was 20+ years ago took them off and put flowmasters in place.
Edit: memory say walker chambered tube.

I'm not impressed with the sound of the IROC (heard better ones) and the Falcon sounds like glasspacks (which I don't mind); is that the sound you're going for?

I'm putting the Powerstick behind the 327 in my '67 shortbed for that sound of the era to go with the vibe of the build. I ran Walker Turbo Tubes in a K/20,which were chamber mufflers. Sounded perfect for me. Way more classy than glass packs and tougher sounding than the modern offerings. Refined is nice, but you had to be there to appreciate the sound of chambered muffs. Gotta have 'em with a 4spd!

I agree you have to be there and my truck is a 4spd. I Know the chevelles ran a resonator at the end of the tail pipes maybe this is why the irock sounds like it does. But im shooting more for a sound like this clip. I know some....most of this is cam but I plan on putting a top end and cam in the truck shortly anyhow.

Re: Chambered Muffler Tubes Please Help

These online videos never seem to do an exhaust sound justice. This 327 Vette video sounds pretty good, though. Not much time of it,but this is the sound I'm after. In the '60s and early '70s if it didn't make some noise it wasn't hot and chambereds are the mild side of that. The longer the better for mellowing it out some

Re: Chambered Muffler Tubes Please Help

I have 30" Mid-America Motorworks chambered exhaust in 2.5in on my truck and I think they sound pretty good. Inside you can't really tell how loud they are and they mellow out when cruising at 50, but they are definitely noticeable when you get on it. I don't know if they still sell just the mufflers, but they were only 40 a piece when I got them and that was in 2010. I would definitely recommend them for the price.
