5.3 carb swap

I'm new to this site and have some questions. Other than the edelbrock intake, msd6010, valley cover, carb, what am I going to need to actually do this build properly. I also am wondering if I can bolt this engine up to an old four speed tranny. Thanks

An electric fuel pump if you don't already have one. The transmission I believe can be mounted you might need an adapter. You also need the engine mount adapters. If you want to run A/C then a relocating bracket or notch the frame.

Re: 5.3 carb swap

Since the 5.3 never came with a manual tranny could I use a flywheel out of a 4.8 or 6.0 and I thought about using the newer five speed but I'd like to convert the 5.3 to carbed and don't want to mess with a lot of wiring with the newer transmission so I'd like to keep the old four speed.

Re: 5.3 carb swap

Welcome to the site. Read this on converting an LS to carb: http://www.aera.org/ep/downloads/ep1...2010_10-19.pdf

I would like to do one for a project. Anything bigger (6.0, 6.2 or 8.1) or daily driver with a 4.8 or 5.3, I would keep the FI.

actually in 99 the 5.3 5 speed was an option. it was dropped in 00. there is no wiring to manual trans other than maybe the speed sensor. its the same nv3500 used since the 80s.
