'50 door glass rebuilds

Who has rebuilt them? I had to drill out the clutch head holder little things that hold the bottom window track to the window surround, and now, I'm curious to see if anyone has found any simple remedy that replace the clutch head setups.

I sandblasted and base/cleared my window frames, ordered new glass, and I also need recommendations on what to use for the rubber seal that goes between the glass and frame.

No one has rebuilt the door glass? I would think a lot of people have with the price difference of $30 over $130 for a full frame and glass setup.

Re: '50 door glass rebuilds

I was wondering the same thing about the clutch head screws in the frames. Indeed to do the same thing to mine, would like to see what some others have done. Awesome site, lots of very talented truck builders

I guess I don't understand what you are asking..... Can you replace clutch heads with hex or flat head?
Yes

Re: '50 door glass rebuilds

Yes. You would be able to replace it with just a flat head screw but then you need a nut zerk kinda fitting flip use on the back side. I found the replacements and they are done. As far as the rubber stripping between the glass and the surround, my local auto body dealer store gasped a roll of stuff I cut in half and folded it in the metal surround. Worked great.

Re: '50 door glass rebuilds

You could go to Fansteners or one of the other nuts and bolts houses and get allen head countersunk machine screws with the right thread that might be a bit easier to deal with than the flat tip ones.

The "clutch head" is just the style of screw driver or bit that it takes to turn the screw just like a slotted for a flat tip, Phillips , allen or Torx.

Re: '50 door glass rebuilds

Good idea there too. The screw set I listed on the site worked perfectly. So instead of having $140 each door glass, I have everything new for just over $50 for both.
