Re: 6-lug disc brake

Backspacing is DIRECTLY related to wheel width.
What size/diameter and width wheel are you looking for up front?

Re: 6-lug disc brake

For reference, I have 8" wheels - 235 tires up front with 4.5" backset. Looks right. Could go 4" in the future because I like them tucked well under. 5" would have given me a more modern flush fit.

Your info is backwards.
More backspacing equals more tucking.

Re: 6-lug disc brake

Jesse,I'm guessing that you are trying to fit wheels over a 6 lug disc brake conversion, correct? If so you need to worry about wheel type as muc as backspacing. Most of the steel wheels for these trucks do not have clearance for the calipers. There are some styles that do.If you are more specific in what you are asking,we can better advise you to the options.

Re: 6-lug disc brake

73-87 disc brake setups definatly will not clear the calipers for stock steel wheels.

They won't clear pre-'71 6-lug steel wheels.
They will work fine with 71-87 6-lug 4x4 steel wheels.
