Thinkin' about this one..

Found an ad with no pics for this truck. The ad it had a big block and the seller said his Grandpa ordered the truck new. I asked for a spid pic as well as pics of the truck and these are what I got and no spid pic. Apparently the cap has been on the truck forever. I see it has cab lights the smaller camper mirrors and the seller said it has power steering. It must have pulled a trailer or two as evidenced by the 70's trailer brake set up under the steering wheel.

I'm thinking it'd make a great parts chaser run around truck.

The grandson prob. doesn't know what a spid is. I see, there's obvious rust issues in all the known places. What's the asking price?

I don't if the seller is really motivated to sell because after I talked with him on the phone and explaining what the spid was and where it was it took 10 days for him to send the pics. He is asking 5000.00 for the truck but is open to offers and its also 250 miles from me.

Re: Thinkin' about this one..

If it's been sitting outside like that for many of the winter seasons, the cab (roof) may be devistated.

Re: Thinkin' about this one..

Don't let that one get away. Never say no to a factory big block. That one looks to have the old school hi-rise intake that all the old hot rodders always wanted. It also may have the hi-performance closed chambered heads on it. Too bad he won't come down on the price. I only paid $3,000 for mine, running & driving.

I'm going to see if I can get a spid pic before I do anything.

Re: Thinkin' about this one..

Great save on a good truck.
I like the color combinations and it appears to be mostly original.

Let us know what you do with it!

Re: Thinkin' about this one..

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I am a little confused and maybe someone has run into this issue before. This truck was purchased new by Grandpa and when he passed away 15 years ago he willed it to his Grandson who I bought it from. So the truck is very original. What my problem is that on the Spid it shows the E81 Wood Box Floor Code but the truck has a steel floor. Now i'm thinking and knowing how fast the factory pushed these trucks down the assembly line maybe it was ordered with the wood floor but when it was on the assembly line they ran out of wood floors so just put the steel floor in the truck to keep the assembly line going. Any input or ideas would be helpful to all of us on here.

Re: Thinkin' about this one..

boy that is a nice truck. guess ill get to see it in person one day! spid is pretty full too. Not too sure about the box floor. Maby a change was made in production. that looks too untouched to think the floor was removed or changed but it is 35 years old. There must be an explanation for it.

Re: Thinkin' about this one..

I would bet it just didn't get the wood floor at the factory. Unless at some point the wood floor rotted and someone did a steel floor conversion. But I believe the bedsides and front panel are different between wood and steel floors, so that theory is unlikely. Thats a sweeeeet 69!
