71 Brake light?

I have a 71, the brake light works when the park lights are turned off, when I turn the park lights on and step on brake the left brake light does not work, but the right one does. Like I said both work fine as long as I do not turn park/headlights on.

Thoughts?

Re: 71 Brake light?

This reminds me of a problem I had several years ago on my '68 c10. After carefully inspection of all associated parts I replaced the turn signal switch in the column since it had a hairline crack in the base. Once that was completed everything worked as intended.

Re: 71 Brake light?

Had a new headlight switch replaced that, and ran a ground wire from bed to frame, lights are brighter, but still the left brake light is inop when the headlights are on, so...guess I try the turn signal switch next.

Re: 71 Brake light?

What willys47 is saying it there could be bad grounds at the light them selves. To add to that the trucks bed needs to have ground straps to the frame as does the cab itself.
