Re: New toy 68 c10
Runs good it sounfs nice and healthy and its got good power. It came with some slots ill be putting on and selling the wire wheels that are on it. Tranny and motor leak so it needs a couple gaskets. Needs some wirring work for some of the gauges wipers and radio, but overall a decent truck with major potential.

Re: New toy 68 c10
So are you going to leave the moral on the hood? Looks like a nice solid platform.

Re: New toy 68 c10
I would have some white paint on that hood quick, but that is just me. You may like it the other guy did so there is that. I think the jelly beans or even some clean rallies would change the whole look of the truck.

Re: New toy 68 c10
Im a professional painter with my own shop so the whole truck will be getting a new paint job including the hood. The mural was done by a guy with a tattoo shop and itd done in sharpie and tattoo ink kinda cool but not my style.
And i agree the wheels will instantly change the whole truck( i think for the better) |

Re: New toy 68 c10
Ya i did some research on it and they were an option 69 and up but the cab is raised for them. In 68 they were only a dealer option and the cab is straight like all the others. At first i didnt like them but their kinda groeing on me.

Re: New toy 68 c10
Some engine shots. Pretty dirty and oily so ill be doing a major clean on it and then runnin it to see where its all coming from ill be doing oil pan, valve covers, probably intake, valve body, and tranny pan. I'm hoping i wont need to do head gaskets but we'll see when its cleaned up i might just do the heads too while its torn apart and peace of mind.

Re: New toy 68 c10
What's in the hand in the mural???
Sharpie and tattoo ink? If that's clear under there... that could actually be "rubbed/buffed off" then, couldn't it? - I know you said repaint, but it's so nice I'd have to drive it a while first.

Re: New toy 68 c10
Thank you.
The mural guy is holding a tattoo gun. As for rubbing off its clearcoated over so i'll just DA the hood and shoot it for now ill probably leave it white this year and then tear down this fall/winter. For now wheels, disk brakes, and gaskets are priorities then wirring and small details and paint |

Re: New toy 68 c10
looks like a nice start for a project.
the wheels and hood really set it off but i'm sure you'll fix that. i would throw that air filter in the trash. the foam in them drys out and your engine sucks it in.

Re: New toy 68 c10
Or even worse,,, the engine has a hiccup, backfires and catches that foam air cleaner on fire...

Re: New toy 68 c10
Congrats, that looks like real nice solid ’68 to play with. It will definitely clean up nicely once you remove all of the Tijuana tattoo shop tune-up treatment. Bummer about the dash where the PO hacked it up for a radio. I don’t know why PO’s have to do such hacky things like that. 68’s are my favorite of the 67-72 flavor. Nice score!
