Bed

Hey Guys - I have a prospect for a bed..... found a guy on craigslist selling a complete rot free bed from a 1970 stepside shortbed for around 500 bucks.... and since I can sell the 88-98 bed I have now for a few hundred.... ill be doin pretty good!

question.... if I want to get the correct fenders and steps..... what will I be looking at to make the swap? will I have to drill new holes in the bedsides to mount the '57 fenders?

if I get the 1970 bed, I may just settle with that bed being at least a much better fit that the 88-98 bed and just put the correct tail lights and bumper... are those lights or reflectors on the side of a 1970 rear fender? is the fender flat behind it, or is the reflector recessed into the fender? its hard to tell in pictures....

Re: Bed

I have no clue when the bed styles changed but LMC usually has good pictures with everything identified. Mar-K is the go to source for made in use bed parts. I think the sides were the same, differences were fenders and tailgates,

Re: Bed

I think you are going to find that a couple of the holes are different but a number of them will line up. Maybe someone on the evening shift will give a definitive answer.

It would be nice if someone had a task force fender from one side and could butt it up to a 70 fender from the other side to see what lines up and what doesn't.
