A rare find? 1ton 1961 Chevrolet Apache C30 Longbed Stepside
Hello, My name is Jay from south Florida. I'm new to the site and new to the whole classic truck community. I recently purchased this 4 speed 1961 Chevy Apache c30 stepside longbed. I posted it on The H.A.M.P and was quickly redirected here. I was told I could find info and advice about this truck and possible help with decoding my vin number. 1C364B116824
I was told it was rare and I kind of discovered that on my own by the little info out there about a longbed c30 steside from 61'. I've tried to find another one but the closest was a 60' by a member of this site. Not sure if that's a good thing or not but I like it so rare or not it's to me it's worthy of existence. About the truck' Runs and drives good. Need new windshield which is on it's way from Rockauto. Headlights not working nor rear tail lights. Can't find a bench seat. Found guy online who has it wants $100 plus $130 shipping online. Hoping to find it local cheap. Question: Will a newer model bench work? Like a 90 something? Body needs a little welding but nothing outrages. Biggest issue is about a 6" hole on the driver floor. I know a bit of welding so away with that. The Plan? To bring it back to it's original glory. Chevy Orange and white, No fancy mods. As original as possibly. Except for current wheels which will be plastic dipped white with possible white walls. I'd like to see it with wood railings also. I'll do my best to document the progress for you guys and for record. Thanks for looking and enjoy the pics. |

Re: A rare find? 1ton 1961 Chevrolet Apache C30 Longbed Stepside
to the board Apache809! Great looking truck & a rare 9 foot bed too! Not too many of those around, great find! I am sure you will find tons of info on this board to help with your restoration. I for one will be looking forward to seeing your build progress.
Here is a very good thread on seats you may find helpful for ideas on replacing your bench seat. Good luck & post lots of pics on your build thread when you start one. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=388153 |

Re: A rare find? 1ton 1961 Chevrolet Apache C30 Longbed Stepside
Hello from Texas, Welcome to THE forum for our trucks. I think that is the first C30 9' step bed that I have seen. I have been around these trucks since 88, so I have been around.
Looks like you have your work cut out for you since she looks like she has been worked, but I am sure you can bring her to her original glory. Keep us posted! BTW, if you can, keep her drive-able, that way there is some work, then some fun, then some work...you get the picture!

Re: A rare find? 1ton 1961 Chevrolet Apache C30 Longbed Stepside
Glad to find a place where this ruck can be appreciated. Some on the H.A.M.P are not fond of this front end, cab nor bed. . Fact is, thats what attracted me to it. I guess i was in the wrong place. lol
Thanks for the help on the seat. Thank you all. |

I like the sentiment. It's very rewarding, and I think you'll take great pride and satisfaction in that.

Re: A rare find? 1ton 1961 Chevrolet Apache C30 Longbed Stepside
Speaking of rarity...I have no idea build numbers for a 60 or 61 one ton stepsides. I never see them Im just glad there another like mine. I would like to find a stepside bed that fits it. That "ford"<<<----bad word....flat bed that I have is coming off first chance i get.

Very cool video, Thanks for posting, your truck looks like it was a workhorse and held up really good. Someone took good care of it. Never saw one of those before, you have to restore that truck!
