Cool More info

I finally started looking at the computer today. I found this on it. I still have to figure out which connector the purple wire should go to.This was hand written on it in sharpie.

Thumbs up Re: More info

Yes in the drawings for the transmission that reads the Trans temp it should be purple if I read it right. You don't happen to know which plug on the computer to look at do you? I really want to figure this out and get the temp reading working on the scan gauge in the truck.
L= temp wire
M = ground

Re: More info

I don't know where you got that diagram, but I don't think it's for an '01. My schematics show the two wires are C2-51 yellow/black (trans temp) and C1-41 which is gray and is also the ground for the coolant temperature sensor. If you have a factory harness, it should be there since there would be no reason for it to have been removed.

Question Re: More info

This is a stand alone harness. This is the info I have been looking for. Thanks. Do you know what plug it is in on the back of the computer?

Wink Re: More info

Thanks now I can look and see if the wiring is in place. If it is then there is something else going on with it. I'm hoping the wire is gone that will be the simple fix. If it's there then I don't know what to do. Except take it to the transmission place and have the senor replaced and wiring checked.
Do you know if this can be cut off and on by the tuner. If so I need to know what to tell them to look for. Thanks you got me on a start anyway.

Re: More info

I'm not sure if it's something that can be programmed out or even why it would have been done. Generally programming something out only turns off the error reporting so as to keep a check engine light from being illuminated. Have you ever had a good scanner (Tech2 or something similar) put on it to see what it says?

I don't know what scanner that Hawks used. They couldn't get it either. Neither of mine will pull it up. Actron are the scan gauge I'll call my buddy at his shop this week and see if he can get it to pull up.

Re: More info

Ok,

First, this isn't a stand alone harness, its an aftermarket or re-worked harness.
A stand alone harness would be for an actual stand alone ecm or wiring, like the mega squirt link you referenced. You wouldn't be using a GM ecu on the MS, since the point of running MS is to NOT use the factory ecu.

The wiring harness you reference might be for the MS Box, which has nothing to do with the computer you pictured.

Unless your using the megashift to control the 4l80e...but why are you using megashift if the factory ecu can control the trans? I'm a little lost at this part.

Second, the picture is NOT a scan gauge....its just a scanner. That usually can't do what a TechII/Startech/HPT/EFI live can do.

Re: More info

What you are using is basically just a code reader. You need an actual scanner. A Tech2 will show all the data in the PCM.

Yes guys I know my scanner want work. That's why I need to get someone who knows what to look for in the tune to see what I need.
Hawks couldn't do it are wouldn't do it, take your pick.

BR3W CITY,
My terminology is not what it should be that is for sure!
I have no mega squirt at all. It was the only thing I could find on the net talking about the transmission and it's connections.

The computer is a GM with wiring harness by LS1tech as far as I know.
I guess I need to take it over to my friends shop and see if we can pull it up.
I will look tomorrow after I get up and check for the wiring though. I don't know what scanner he has but he should have a good one since he is a mechanic.
ls1nova71 got me headed in the right direction on the wires and color. Thanks
I hate to do it but it looks like I need to invest $400.00 in a Tech 2. Anybody know of a good place to buy one.

Re: More info

I wonder if your tuner/installer can hook up his hp tuners or what ever he used for the tuning and use the scan tool to log all the sensors is able to "read" this output. I would assume the temp is an integral part of the way the transmission works. I understand it uses temperatures to "adjust" the shift line pressures. The information should be in the computer.
ok well I reread your posts and it seems as that they cant read it either. I was pretty sure that the scanner of HP tuners could read anything the computer was using and was able to output. I have not scanned anything with a 4l80 so I am not sure what all it can read. I would also believe that the output would not be "turned off" if it was available.
I know this 411 computer you show is pretty generic it is the same one I have on mine with a 5.3 and 4l60e. I dont know what all they were used in.

Re: More info

Most of the wiring on that MS website is actually pretty accurate, but you need to seperate the "factory" diagrams from the "MS" diagrams. Since the MS uses a different way of controlling the transmission, its side of the wiring is gonna be pretty different.

When I Use that site, I find it helpful to download the diagrams relevant to me, and open them in a seperate viewer. Its way too easy to glance up and read off the wrong part of the page.

And don't buy a TechII, for the same money you can just buy your own copy of HPT

Question Re: More info

Here is what I got. I don't think I have the wiring hooked up per ls1nova71 instructions. Which connector is Red? Top are Bottom of my picture.

Both 41's in each connector are empty no wires.

Looking at my pictures the top connector#51 has a Yellow/ White wire.
Bottom #51 connector has a Blue wire.

Re: More info

I'm willing to say that you seem to have an aftermarket harness. Blue, which is c1 & red being c2. Your PCM is up side down, per the pic. Also, most Pcms I've seen has red/blue written on them. If you remove the harness connector, you will probably see the written/stamped blue or red or green. I hope this helps. Why do you need the transmission temp reading. Most ppl don't really monitor transmission temps unless they have a faulty transmission or they are racing.

Yea I agree 100%.

Because the Scan Gauge 2 can read it but can't! That is the only reason I was trying to get it up on the gauge. I know it's not a most but dang I just wished it would read it.

Oh I'm not! I drove it to work again tonight and it puts a smile on my face everytime I put my foot on the gas.
I have 405 miles so far on this tank of gas and still have over a 1/4 tank. I have to tear the insides of it out this next few weeks to finish up the sound deadner, rear corner speakers and install the delay windsheild wiper mod and install the check engine light. So I want to get some pleasure out of it before March 20 when I drive it 5hrs to Myrtle Beach for the show.

Good Lord! How big of a gas tank do you have in that thing????

Also, have you checked the plug on the trans to see if the wire is missing? May be as simple as running a wire.

Re: More info

I am using Torque Pro with a Blue tooth to monitor many pages of information and transmission temp and coolant are what I am watching, the coolant fan starts at 205.5* and shuts off at 194.5*
Sitting in the driveway it cycles off and on and the temp is in a heat exchanger in the radiator and I have not seen the trans temp get over 184*

I also like the 0 to 30 miles per hr from a stand still !!!!

When I went on the Power Tour last year I drove to Arlington Texas from SC on less than 2 tanks of gas. I have a 1993 42 gallon Suburban gas tank with a modified pump for the LSx motor now. I filled up in Jackson Miss on the way out.
I'm driving this tank pretty low to see how it does compared to the old setup.
I filled it up back in Jan. and been driving it back and forth to work when I could. Weather permitting.

I know you like to go on longer trips, but I have no problem doing 9 hour trips in my truck with a 16 gallon tank (obsiously getting fuel on the way). Besides, my bladder can't make it through 42 gallons worth of trip lol.
I drove that
939 mi, 14 hours. I stopped 3 times. Google maps says 13 hrs and 35 minutes.I think I did good doing it in that amount of time.

Last tank of gas cost me $120.00 @$2.99 a gallon.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
