Gmc 9500 6x6
I was talking to my dad today and he was talking about the log truck he used to have. It didn't have a trailer. Instead of a bed, it had a rack to hold the logs. He said it was a 9500 GMC with a 401 V6. It had a five speed with a high/low transfer case. He said it was an Air Force wrecker and that the truck empty weighed around 16,000 lbs. Anybody know anything about the 6X6 models? What years did they make these?

Yeah, I might be able to get one. I'll have to go to my grandma's house and rummage through thousands of pictures. I'm sure I can find some cool old pictures of some old log trucks my uncles drove from when my grandpa had his sawmill going.

It had to be a Marmon-Herrington conversion,[or similar], before being shipped to a dealer.

I think that's what he said the suspension was. I'm going out to his house today. I'll ask him more about it when I do and see if he knows if there are any pictures of it.
