temp fitting question

So i got my new guages today i bought the autometer 2277 m12x1.50 to 1/8 adapter i had to drill the center out but the temp prope doesnt reach out of the adapter will that matter?

Also thread sealer or no thread sealer on the temp sensor?

I'd imagine having the probe protrude into whatever it is you measure would be beneficial to getting an accurate reading.

Is this oil temp, trans temp or coolant temp? I suppose technically as long as the heated fluid can touch the probe it will give a reading, but having it tucked inside the adapter may lead to an air bubble, or unusual fluid flow in that spot, giving erratic signal. As an example, having a temp sender partially unscrewed gives erratic readings, I would think this could as well.

I use teflon tape on coolant stuff. Not much pressure, but leaks p*** me off.

With coolant temperature, I wouldn't be too worried about lack of coolant flow - the coolant will conduct the heat well enough the reading should be pretty accurate.

yep.....you have to remember it's coolant, so it's gonna find it's way in there...at least that was my thoughts....

The auto meter sensor (made to screw into that adaptor), does not set as deep, as the one that you drilled? Still , it is about right on, with the stat? The stat is around 190 ish....(205 on/195 off , on the elect fans). The guage does not dance around longhorn

Okay that's what I wanted. To hear. Did you use telffon or sealant on yours? I've been told it will effect the ground but factory Senors had sealer on them new

That copper washer should seal it....that said, I did use a little thread sealant, not tape.... Mopar, or ARP, but just lite on the threads, as said the copper washer should seal it? longhorn

I didn't use sealer on mine, just the crush washer.
