1967-1968 grille help

Can someone tell me if there is a different grille for this truck. I apparently have one that has no place to mount the front park lamps. Is there a part I'm missing or am I gonna need a new grille?

This is not my truck but a pic of a grille like mine. It doesn't have the inner portion either

Re: 1967-1968 grille help

There should be some mounting tabs in the right and left corners of the lower grille opening (I think). I am going to be working on mine tomorrow morning so I'll take a look at it and post what I find.

Because I don't have that inner blue area that the park lamps are resting on

Yes. Those inner pieces are riveted to the grille shell and your park light will attach to them. That's actually what I'm installing tomorrow.

Re: 1967-1968 grille help

Well I don't have those. Any idea on what they are called? And where to locate them, or is this something that may have been removed by p.o. And I'm going to need a grille replacement?

Re: 1967-1968 grille help

They are mainly referred to as grill "inserts". You can paint them your color of choice, remove the trim (hoops), pop rivet the inserts onto the grill and reinstall the hoops and your done except throwing in your turn signals.

They are not repopped so your best chance is on the parts board.

I have a couple of old grills I can look tomorrow if they are good enough to use. I am in the Tampa area.

Re: 1967-1968 grille help

Grille "inserts" sounds right to me. Try looking through an LMC catalog. Their exploded diagrams have been a big help to me in finding the correct name for obscure parts plus how to properly assemble them. Once you find it, search eBay and other sites for it.

Thank you. Much. Every time I go to install one thing. It's something else

Re: 1967-1968 grille help

So you have two that are completely smooth?

That's not uncommon, some people like to use the smooth ones for the top and bottom and use a 71/72 bumper (turn signals in the bumper) or mount custom turn signals hidden behind a billet grille or something (like the first pic you posted).

I don't think I've ever seen them reproduced. It's only been in the past couple years they started making the outer grille shell for the 67/68 trucks.

You can kinda see the difference here. The lower one is "indented" flat on the ends for the park/turn signal lights to mount to:

Yes. I got them from my truck when I took the grille apart to paint it.

Re: 1967-1968 grille help

I think i have three sets. If Colgad cant help you I can start a fs ad. I can give you first dibs. I didnt want to turn this into a wtb thread. The rules can get sketchy on that kind of thing.

Re: 1967-1968 grille help

I think your just an hour and 20 from me. I could meet you out on 75 and save you the shipping and risk of damage and me the packing.
Let me know.

The grill Top and Bottom are in pretty good condition, the center in one is a little wrinked but 10 minutes with a hammer should fix it. No rust! Well maybe a little on the surface.
