Where to Get a Grill For Our 71?
The grill in our '71 is pretty haggard, and will need to be replaced (inner & outer). We have a lot of work to do in the coming months so it's no huge hurry, but I figured it was a good question to ask now. I've seen some NOS inner and outer combos go for up to $1000 on here, but no one wanted to ship them. I can certainly understand that. So, if there aren't any NOS pieces in my area, what are the alternatives? Aftermarket? And if so, who has the best reproduction? I get many of my parts from gmcpaul as he seems to weed out the crap, so that is a possibility. Does anyone have experience/advice to offer? Thanks in advance for any help.

Anyone have a preference for 71-72 grill surrounds and inserts?

X's 2 on "Classic Parts" if your lookin for new...The Parts Board if your lookin for a good used one... I'll add this...I've repaired the egg crates with good results using JB Weld, small pieces of thin sheet metal and pop rivets...That one of yours could easily be fixed and a trained eye would be hard pressed to see the repair...

Have your original restored. It looks to be in good shape. A local polisher can probably fix it right up for about half the cost of an ill fitting reproduction. That is the route I went and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Re: Where to Get a Grill For Our 71?
Bringing this back up. I need a new plastic 71/72 insert. Are there more then one manufacturer? Any one brand better or worse then the other?
Tuckers Classic parts in in town and sells the insert for $89.95 ... no brand listed... http://www.tuckersparts.com/Grill-F-6893.html Also, I plan to cover the grill in black Line-X to match the rest of my Blazer if anyone thinks it might change the decision... |
