 to the truck board.That is called a dimmer switch. It changes the headlights from high to low beam when you meet oncoming cars. If you press on it with your foot you should hear and/or feel it click. Turn your headlights on at night and press on it a few times with your foot and see what the headlights do. LockDoc

My son is 15 and he has had to take drivers ed this year, he came home a couple months ago so proud of himself. The driver's ed teacher asked where the dimmer switch was on older vehicles such as older trucks his reply was my truck has it in the floor and it is a 1968 GMC. He told me the other kids argued with him at first and the teach had to tell them he was correct and they were wrong.

That's the single greatest invention that should have never been taken out of vehicles! I grew up in cars/trucks with them and can't wait to drive my truck at night.

It's only a hassle when you're in Hi-Beams and shifting gears and your left foot is working the clutch -- just as some weisenheimer in a Beemer comes up and flashes you for not dropping your Hi-Beams. Sorry, They gotta wait.

I prefer it on the floor. The turn signal stock was supposed to be "European". First car I ever had with it was a 1974 Pontiac Grand Am. I hate the one on today's newer cars, having to push the stalk forward. The original ones in the 70s, you pulled it toward you to go between high and low beams. It was much easier to use and you didn't have to let go of the steering wheel.
