CPP 4/6 drop today & Porterbuilt drop in future?
Already started my front disc 4/6static drop today & as I was unpacking my new parts a question came up.
If I cut my frame to install the C-notch will that be a problem in the future when I'm ready to do a Porterbuilt mild drop or possibly extrem drop? I have been dropping GM muscle cars since the early 90's but when it comes to trucks I'm a green horn So sorry if it's A dumb question just want to make sure before I start cutting away?? Thank you for looking & your time |

I don't see it being a problem. Most C-notches are the same and should work with each other. An extreme drop notch will completely replace the CPP notch.
I know my tubular rear shock crossmember and rear springs tie into the C-notch. So if you change something in the rear you might have to do some merging of the brands. |

i went from a cpp bolt in mini notch to an extreme pb dropmember and had no problems. you will be fine.

2002yanks did you go with the 1/4" or 3/8" notch?
My kit came with 1/4 but should I go with 3/8? Thank you for dropping in |

They call the 3/8" plates HD for towing. Really though, the 1/4" ones are pretty damn stout. That's what I'm running and fully plan to tow. The guys at CPP sounded pretty confident in them and rambled off a couple other customers that tow box trailers every weekend without problem.
I do plan on boxing the frame in that area anyway. |

If you plan to tow, I'd go w/the thicker units.
I used the CPP 1/4" ones on my swb & they worked fine. At some point later, I learned how much strength is taken away from the frame rails once notched & it opened my eyes. If I were doing that one over, I'd either do small step-notches or the thicker 3/8" units @ the minimum. Boxing won't replace the strength 'removed' in this situation. This is a toy I can probably guarantee you the bed will never get used. & I use my 02 Avalanche for towing & the bed in it looks like it was painted this morning |

i had the 1/4 inch ones(dont think they had the 3/8 ones then). either way i would have still went with the 1/4 ones. will never tow/carry stuff in it- my classic insurance doesnt allow it.
