Cool Quicker off line acceleration

I was told that if I put a spacer between the carb and the intake, that my power would kick in at lower rpms. Right now, I can feel it really kick in at 3500 rpms, which is higher than I would like it to be. I don't know all of the specs. of the motor, but here is what I was told when I bought the motor from a friend. 1971 350 4-bolt, 71 vette heads, 2.02's - ported/polished, 3angle job I believe, 68 Z28 high rise intake, 670 cfm Holley street avenger, 280 comp. cam, 1.5 roller rockers, not sure about pistons, 10.25 compression or 10.5 I think. And, I only run premium. I am not a real tech. when it comes to specs.

Thanks.

I forgot to mention that I have HEI. There was a spring kit that came with it. I will the change springs to see if that will help too.

From what I have read, spacers do help a little but I doubt it would give you much noticable bottom end. What you might need to look into is a different stall convertor and rear end depending on what your set-up is right now.

a 280 cam is not for low end power.

I agree...a 280 cam is not going to give you very good power off the line. What ratio is your rear axle? If you are running 3.07 gears or something close, that is your problem. With a 280 cam, you need something like 3.73-4.11 gears to make the most of your engine combo. The only other way to really get a big increase in low end power is to swap in a smaller cam, or build a bigger motor (383 stroker, or 400 small block)

Yeah but it sounds GOOOD! Would rather have a 305 dur. hydralic. Talking about the sounds of the car gods!!!!

I would go for a rear gear change or a Nitrous KIT!!!

Slap a 100 shot on that thing. You will definetly feel the acceleration then!!!!
