WTB: 5-bolt coil spring rearend.

I'm looking for a decent 5 lug coil spring rear. Rebuildable or running. Preferably within driving distance of Charlotte, NC area. No preference on ratio. Will pay a reasonable price depending on condition. Might consider a good '70 model 6-lug.

Thanks in advance..

Re: WTB: 5-bolt coil spring rearend.

Is the '69 rear the same width as the '70?? I so, might be interested, if the price is right. We can do this off the board thru PM, if you like. I can make Batesburg (think Shealy's BBQ) in a heartbeat.

Re: WTB: 5-bolt coil spring rearend.

I know that there is a difference in width I am just not sure what it is. 70 was a transitional year and had two different rear end widths. I would post in the 67-72 message board to see if someone could answer if it will work for you because I am unsure. The rear end that I have is from a 69.

Re: WTB: 5-bolt coil spring rearend.

Here's what I have found: It seems that '70 year model had both, 56 inch is early, 57 1/2 is the later 'wide' axle, backing plate to backing plate. I'm not absolutely certain, but that sounds about right. If your 6-lug is a '69 it would likely be the more narrow width. Keep me informed. I need some BBQ ! ! !

Re: WTB: 5-bolt coil spring rearend.

69 is narrow 55.5 70 -72 57". I've never had a 70 that's narrow but possible. Narrow housing has 2 letter code. Wide has 3. That's measuring from back side of backing plate on each side.

Re: WTB: 5-bolt coil spring rearend.

Mine is a 69 and I need to go measure it. The truck is at my parents property. I get off of work 1/2 a day early Saturday and if I can remember I will go by and measure it. If not my buddy may have a rear end out of a 71-71. I need to check all of my titles because I have three parts trucks down there and I know two are 69's and cannot remember if the other is a 69 or 70.

I'll take a couple of #'s of Creamed corn and Butter Beans. Shealy's veggies are THE BEST.
.
However, I still need a rear-end - - -

I bet the rear end does not taste as good. I just ate there the other day.
