Warn Lock-O-Matic hubs

Just curious if any of these are still around. They were on my '72 when I bought it in '77. Took me a while to realize what they were! Many of you probably know more about them than I do, but for those not familiar with them...

I guess they were a precursor to full-time 4WD systems. You can lock 'em in (can be a ***** if the splines aren't close to being lined up!), or just leave 'em out. If they are out, they will engage automatically when the t-case is in 4wd - but only if going forward, not in reverse. They unlock when you go back to 2wd.

Pretty clever, I think - handy for the occasional mudhole or slick spot when you want 4wd for just a short time.

I heard off them, don't really now much about them. I know hard core 4X4'ers don't like them.

i've heard of them, but personally i don't care for auto hubs at all. i know they are only around because people are lazy, but they are annoying. my dad's F-150 has them (auto not warn), and i'll be damned if i can get the thing to move in 4wd without stalling, as they make the truck jump when engaged. once you get the manual hubs to engage, they work great. i've noticed that all new ford super duties have manual hubs. i think thats awesome! even the excursion has them.
