Body Swap 67 on 72 frame
I've found a donor body, that is in significantly better shape than my body and was going to buy it and do a body swap. The donor is a 67 1/2 ton 4x2 and mine is a 72' 3/4 ton 4x4. Will it be an easy swap, mounting holes lining up, etc? I am only planning on swapping from the doors back and keeping the 72 front clip. Anything I need to be aware of before forking over the dough? Thanks again guys for all the help, can't thank you enough.

Re: Body Swap 67 on 72 frame
I don't think there are any differences as far as bolting it to the frame, the frames (besides the front frame rails around the engine) are the same. Where there are differences are the parking brake and harness locations to start. The 67-68 have the pull handle type, so the parking brake cable and harness connector locations are swapped, and the cable from the handle to the cables in the frame is different. If the donor body has the handle and the cable still attached you can just use the existing cable in the donor body and replace the one on your '72. There are other small differences (doors, gauge bezel, rearview mirror mounting, steering column / shaft) etc but you can mostly sway your 72 parts in.
I have a '68 and used to have a '69 that I grabbed some parts off and I've run into this problem with compatibility. There's enough changed that it's not direct, but close. Hope that helps. |

Re: Body Swap 67 on 72 frame
Yep, had to do this too, since my '69 was a high hump big block truck.
