seat belt, shoulder belt questions
I have seen folks mention installing shoulder belts in their trucks. Is there a prescribed method for this upgrade? Is there a vender for the parts, or do you get belts from newer models? Please help, I am getting ready to paint the inside of my project and want to put my son in the truck next year, so now would be the best time to upgrade. I want to leave the rest the truck stock.
thanks, Ed |

I sell the 3 point belts in several different colors they complete (have to have your own bolts) and I have put them in several truck and used the original holes every time. (60.00 per side and 40.00 for the center lap belt)

Thanks for the reply. Do you have them to match the dark green interior? If so, are they a close enough match that I could use one of my originals for the center lap belt? What would you anticipate shipping cost to VA 24343? Thanks

I think the green might be to bright for what you need (I don't even stock that color because it doesn't match anything), the only dark one is black. I could ship everything for 11.00

Thanks again. I will consider black if I can't find a matching green. Anybody else got any good ideas? Any success stories from any board members?

I've been looking at this issue and I don't see how a 3 point belt can be installed using the original bolt holes on the drivers side: the gas tank is directly in the path between the floor and shoulder bolt holes. Am I missing something here?

next time I get one over here that has one in it I will take pictures, but they will go in (the retractor unit is much smaller than any of the oem ones I have ever seen).

Oh yea, the latch straps in the center were too short so I used some 3/8 chain to get them up thru the seat.

I guess I've never really looked, but are there bolt holes already in the upper sides of the trucks for the 3rd point of the belt, or does something have to be cut and welded in? Could very well be there from the factory, just never looked.

seatbelt/shoulder harnesses
Yes: rickspickuppart: so are you saying this will fit all 67-72 trucks C-10, C-20, C30, etc. and how many bolts etc. and is there a schematic that tells where to put the holes for the driver and passenger shoulder belts......I'm assuming that with a bench seat, the middle passenger will only get a lap belt!!!........

yes you are right the center spot only gets a lap belt, there isnt a diagram or anything it is something we looked around and found would work, I will PM you my phone number if you want and I can tell you everything I have done to put them in. The only thing you have to be creative w/ is where the 3rd point attaches you have to put a shoulder on the bolt because it has to stay loose and not bottom out against the cab (I usually measure the distance I need then hit the threads w/ the welder. Otherwise the original holes in the floor board are used.

I recently bolted in a pair of shoulder belts out of an '86 Chevy S10 pickup. The were almost a complete bolt in, besides the drilling of one hole. The passenger side assembly went in using all the factory holes, and the female end of the belt was not too short to come through the seat. The driver's side was the same, except i had to drill a hole about 4" forward of the factory hole to mount the ratchet system on the S10 belt. My in-cab gas tank was in the way, and wouldn't allow the belt to work. Best thing is that the belts only cost me $30 for the pair, and i installed them in about 2 hours or so. Great upgrade, i feel 10x safer in my truck
