Cool Cigarette Lighter

Can anyone tell me how to wire up a cig lighter in an 84 swb because the old one worked when it wanted to, and now I am about to start driving for the summer and need it to work. Ash tray is already out. Any help will be greatly appreciated. As always thanks in advance.

Re: Cigarette Lighter

One option would be to simply use the orange wire that powered the original lighter to power the new lighter. Do that by connecting it to the new lighter's power wire (the one that goes to the center contact). The 2nd wire on the new lighter (the one connected to the outer shell) is a ground ... connect that to any metal part of the dash.

If the original orange wire is damaged or missing, you can run the new lighter's power wire to the fuse box. Crimp on a suitable terminal that will allow it to plug into one of the 2 "BAT" terminals that are just to the left of the turn signal flasher.
