Buying gas tank.

I could have my tank cleaned, or buy a new one. I want the best tank I can buy with a good warranty if I buy one. If you bought a new one was it a good one , and who did you buy it from. I hope to go to Good Guys this week end at Texas Speed Way. Maybe I could get the best one there. And who sells the gas tank grommet that will last for 15 years?

Re: Buying gas tank.

How long rubber products last depends on:
A the environment it is in
B how it is maintained(use of rubber treatment products)

I doubt anyone will warranty a rubber gasket for 15 years.

There are not that many vendors making all these parts. Just a lot of vendors selling the same ones at different prices.

Re: Buying gas tank.

Are you referring to in cab tanks or out of cab tanks?

The cab tanks. I know oem from the factory would last 15 years. I would like to find a new old stock one. I just hate putting a new cheap one in , and have to replace it in 3 years.

I don't think they will warranty one 30 days. What rubber treatment product should I use on it?

Re: Buying gas tank.

The last tank /sender gasket I bought was a composite material, not straight rubber, that was 22 years ago still tight today, bought from a local vender here in town. Tank grommet was from the same vendor, it is just now startiing to crack, but is 22 years old now as well.

Dumb question. Is the vendor still in business?
