What is appropriate wheel hole size for K20 Suburban?
I bought some 16", 8x6.5 lug, steel rims off of CL from a later model truck and they were REALLY tight going over the front 4wd hub of my '71 3/4 ton Suburban(scraping along in fact). I haven't even tried the rears yet.
What is the appropriate HOLE size for rims on 3/4 ton Suburbans? Also, could the hub be damaged by having the rim up tight against while driving around? My prior wheels had a decent gap between the inside rim and the hub. Now there is no space whatsoever. Will too much force be transferred to the hub now when driving? If so, I will ditch the wheels. Thanks!

Just grind down your hubs a little (kind of just bevel the end some and keep checking to you have a good fit). That is what I did (took about 10 minutes per side). Lots of guys have to do it to get aftermarket wheels to fit. Check out the wheel section too and you will see more posts about it. Good luck

Re: What is appropriate wheel hole size for K20 Suburban?
The spare that came with my suburban appears to have a 4 and 5/8th inch center hole and fits nicely over the hub. However, rather than keep screwing around looking for the right fit, I picked up a set of 16" Ford rims that accept 3/4 ton 12" hubcaps and have a wide 4 and 7/8th inch center hole.
Thanks for the tip though. I would never have thought to grind the hubs down. Do you paint them afterwards or just let them rust up?
