1968-73-87-98 questions

I have a 1998 chevy 5.7 350 with a nv4500 tranny and I want to mount it in the 1968 I have the little bit of research ive done tells me that unless im going to put ifs in front the transfercase wont work 1 because its on the passengers side and 2 because of the ifs.........so I know less than nothing about the 73-87 chevy trucks but maby since its was late in the years of those did they have nv4500's if so I could use the transfer case from those years and it would be on the correct side ???? anyway thanks for all the help

Re: 1968-73-87-98 questions

That would be wrong... A 32 spline input NP241 from a late square will bolt to the NV4500 without batting an eye. FWIW, 32-spline input NP241s can be found in trucks/Suburbans with a 4L80-E or (I think) the SM-465. OR grab ANY NP241 from a square and swap out the 27-spline input gear for a 32 spline one, which is still available if you look around.

NV-4500 first available in '92, so no, it was not offered in a square.

You could use a np208, had one in my 84 K20, 32 spline passenger side drop
