Should the vin number of my cab match the number on the frame?

Re: vin number question
yes. and the number on the door sticker and the SPID. Not uncommon if they don't though - just means something has been swapped around - cab, or frame, etc. Not too uncommon. For DMV purposes, the important VIN is the metal one riveted to the cab in the door frame.

Re: vin number question
There is a little difference though.
The door post riveted data plate, blue door cert sticker (on later trucks) and the glove box SPID with have the full VIN as will the title. As an example CE349Z123456 But the frame will drop the leading digits and display only the year plant and serial number. So it would be 9Z123456

Re: vin number question
Yeah I found that I have a 69 frame and a 72 cab.
