Re: Rare '77 craigslist , California
Nice!
Judging by the door panels, I think it's a 76 instead of a 77 though. |

Re: Rare '77 craigslist , California
Isn't that just a blazer chalet? Surely there's more than 250 of those

Couple of corrections above: The GMC versions appear identical to the Chevy Chalets since they were all painted the same, the differences are the truck grille and emblems and the camper decals. But this one is missing the camper stripes and the ad didn't show the front. The blazerchalet.com web site that I own and manage (it was created by another guy years earlier) has just one reference to the total build amount, which was for 1,780 Chevy and GMC units from '76 to '77, but that figure comes from a solitary source seen at the second paragraph here. The guy might have gotten the 1,780 figure from a Chinook official. GM confirmed to me that they made 1,555 Blazer Chalets in '76-'77 but they didn't have figures for the Casa Grande versions. So, the best we can guess for total Casa Grande production is basic math: 1780-1555 = 225. Don't know were the seller got the "250" figure. But on top of that, there is the oddball problem of there being at least 5 Chalets I know of having serial numbers higher than 1780. Could be the Chinook factory stamped out numbers for who knows how many above 1,780, and then the factory sorta got careless about riveting on whatever serial number plate to the camper unit that was handy toward the end of the '77 production run. These things have a sketchy production history, I'm doing my best to figure it out, and one day, we will have a much better and newer blazerchalet.com web site.
