First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift
I just completed the installation of my Skyjacker lift. I installed new front and rear springs. Now I'm in the process of evaluating my wheels. I installed 2-new BF Goodrich tires on Rally wheels and two on original steelies. I was hoping to use the original white steelies that I had, but I don't care for the 3" backspacing. It pushes the tires out too much past the fenders for me. They are original 15X8 drum-brake steel wheels with 3-nubs. Looks like I'm going to go with the 15X8 Rally wheels with 4" backspacing. Just sets the tires in a little more. I do like the lift though. The lift gave me about 3" more height with my original tires. With the new 33's, I get a total of about 5" over what I had originally.
My plan will be to blast and paint the rally wheels either white or body color. Feel free to voice opinions. Does anyone know what the backspacing is on the 4-nub 15X8 steelies is? These are the wheels that can be used with disc brakes. Pic-1 is before lift kit Pic-2 is after lift kit with original wheels and original 31x10.5x15 tires Pic-3 is after lift kit with original wheels and new 33x12.5x15 tires Pic-4 is after lift kit with rally wheels and new 33x12.5x15 tires

Here is what I mean about the backspacing difference between the steelies and rally wheels.

I think white rallies would look great. Nice looking truck.

Jim, I'm thinking either white rallies with trim rings and centers… Or body color rallies with trim rings and centers. Not sure yet. I don't know how white color would look against chrome trim rings.

Man, I'm really torn between the originals and the rallies. They both look great! Leaning SLIGHTLY towards the originals with the hubcaps. Has a really cool "Old School" look to it.

Here's a couple more pictures showing how much tires stick out beyond the fender with the old steelies.

Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift
White Steelies are the money shot for your truck. The disc brake wheels are exactly the same dimensions as the rallies, 4" backspace. Trevor

Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift
Absolutely beautiful truck and the lift is just perfect with 33s!! It's hard for me to visualize painted rally wheels, but I really do like the white steelies with hubcaps. If you could locate a set with the proper backspacing, I think it would be very hard to beat the look. I fully agree with you on the look with 'em tucked in on the rallies.

Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift
33's are perfect. As for the wheels if you go with rallies I'd paint them white. But if it was me i'd probably just put the other steelies on it and be done with it.
So the rear bumper is a standard C-10 bumper?? looks pretty good on a 4X4.

Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift
Truck looks great!
A bit off topic, but what kind of lift is that, not the one on the truck, but the one under the truck. I don't have the ceiling height for a 2 post lift, but I've never seen a low one like that with the little frame stands. Just the types at tire shops with the pads. Love the truck btw.

Very nice clean truck, the 33's are a good choice for it too, they work out well with the lift.

Shoot, my 72 K10 is about to get a 2" lift. Glad you posted this, it looks awesome. I was thinking 33s on my 15" rallys too... sold on the idea now!

Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift
Your truck looks great with the lift. Have you thought about running 10.50's instead of the 12.50's. For comparison my truck has the same lift with with 33X10.50's and tucks in the fender wells.

Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift
Yes, but you're running rallies. I have no problems with the rally wheels. The tires tuck under under my fenders with those. My problem is with the drum-brake style steel wheels (my white steelies). The backspacing on the steelies is less than the rallies and pushes the tires out past the fenders. I think I'll either go with the rally wheels or the newer disc-brake steel wheels. With 4" of backspace it looks real good.

Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift
That looks awesome, i actually like look of them sticking out a bit on the steel wheels. It would probably tear up your paint though... I went with 33x10.50s on mine and now i kind of wish i went 12.50. Could you do me a favor next time you remember? And measure from the ground to the middle of the arch on the front fender? I'm starting to think that mine might have a 2" lift, it looks about the same as yours. Always assumed it was stock.... Thanks!

Great looking truck. The lift is just right. Exactly the hieght and look I'm hoping for with mine. I'm restoring a copy but in GMC form. I like the stock wheel look but the rallies painted white would be great too.

Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift
This is for yfs200p who wanted to see some measurements with the lift kit installed. I took measurements before installing the lift kit; measurements after the lift kit (original wheels/tires); and then after the lift kit with bigger 33" tires. Hope this helps.
