66 c10 panel

Started this project 10 years ago, got side tracked with other projects but have been more focused lately. Had pretty severe rust issues and generally beat up but I've gotten most of that straightened out. Going with a 94 LT1 and 4L60e and the original 12 bolt with 3.73 and one wheel goahead.
My digital pictures start after most of the rust and damage has been repaired. I changed the firewall to better suit the low profile of the LT1. After finishing the firewall I decided on a new exterior color and to expose the spot welds around the perimeter. The color was too coppery and it looked too plain with the spot welds gone. I got it almost ready to repaint when the cold weather halted progress. The original color was sunset orange metallic. The dashboard is still going to be sunset orange with the rest of the interior a lightened shade of that color to emulate the original 66 paint scheme. The exterior will be the 70-72 red orange with the roof cool vanilla, coincidentally the same colors as lucifers burb.

On to the dashboard. It was abused by a brute with a blunt force object.

Re: 66 c10 panel

Frame and suspension were sandblasted then epoxy primed then chassis black. Did complete overhaul on the motor, went through the rear end before I took the truck apart. Gonna bag it and do a 2in. pipe notch.

Re: 66 c10 panel

Moved the engine and trans to the 67-72 position for firewall clearance and I think it looks better. More clearance now but the new block huggers, exhaust and driveline no longer fit. Whoopsie.

Looks like you have some of the harder jobs done. Nice to see some fresh paint going on, Sunset Orange looks great.

Re: 66 c10 panel

Finally got the firewall repainted today. 524 orange with orange pearl midcoat. The pearl is kind of a *****, can't see it to know if there's enough. Stopped at two coats. I can put it back on the rotisserie now and roll it to the door into the sun. This is my first attempt at spraying pearl, hope it looks good .
