Question anyone ever converted steel bed to wood?

My bed floor is a little rough and after a bad experience with spray in bedliner(home job) I am wanting my bed to look like this beautiful one. Anyone know where to get the stainless hold down strips?

yes

i'm looking at doing this down the road as well. looks sharp and it's usable at the same time.

i believe any of the distributors will be able to get you a kit. lot's of options as far as wood, sills and strips.

one question i have is do you need a new front bed panel or does the adapter angle they sell to weld to your existing panel really work? or would it be better to get a whole new front panel? that would suck because i just painted my truck.

I've been thinking of this also. What all do you have to change to convert from a steel floor to wood. Would the wood floor be heavier or lighter than a steel floor?

I have converted a few over to wood and they are a little heavier but not enough to make a big difference, to convert one you have to change the headboard, the rear splash panel and the bed stringers in addition to getting the wood bed kit, I also have them for sale PM me and I can get you a price for the kit.

Don't know for sure, but I think the wood is a little heavier. To change over, you need: all wood floor cross members, including the rear sill, and the front panel, wood ( of course ) and all the strips, and a bolt kit. All parts are available aftermarket thru several vendors. Complete change over kit runs about $1300.00, depending on what wood you want.
