SWB 4WD factory original ???

I have a question for the truck experts on this board.

I have a '71 SWB 4WD. A guy I know (who claims to be very knowlegdeable about these trucks) says that GM never built a SWB 4WD truck in 67-72. He says that all of the SWB 4WD trucks running aroung or cut down LWB.

According to my title and the sticker on the glove box door, mine is factory original.

Is this a rare truck?

Thanks

Except Mudders is on a later model frame, hence not a true 67 - 72 SWB 4x4, but we let him play with us anyway.

Your friend is partially correct. GM did not make any 3/4 ton SWB 4x4's nor did they make 1 ton 4x4's in any wheelbase. They did produce a fair # of SWB 1/2 ton 4x4's though the number is only a small percentage of total 4x4 production.

Rare, no. Desirable, yes, though I personally prefer SWB 2wd 1/2 tons and LWB 3/4 ton 4x4's.

Thumbs down

No...he's right. They never did. Who in their right mind would want a SWB 4x4 pickup? How someone could claim such a rediculous thing like that and believe it in their own mind is unbelieveable. Sounds like the guy knows it all. Just ask him, he'll tell you he does.

Thanks Guys, that was a quick response.

Maybe I'll go and see if he will give me some of the chit he is smoking.

Now if I could just fine a good SWB fleetside bed I would be really happy.
