Builder for roll cage in the Austin Area?
looking to find out how much it'll be to have a roll cage made for my 83/84 c10. I want the rollcage to be tight fit to the inside of the interior, contoured on the back behind the seat, the roof needs to match the profile of the roof, needs to have to cross supports mounted in the center on the ceiling about 10-12 inches apart and needs to come out of the cab either above or below the rear window, not through the window. I want to keep a dope, clean look look to it and still get the functionality of a roll cage. Something like what Smitty's custom auto of Ohio did in a 67 c10.
If you have someone in mind, let me know, if you know some, give me an email address or whatever. Want a few bids on what the job would be. Smitty's Custom Automotive Check it out here: http://www.smittyscustomauto.com/gall... Direct link to rollcage: Front Cross member Interior shot Behind the seat Coming out of the cab

Re: Builder for roll cage in the Austin Area?
When you say "made" meaning you want to drop off the truck n have someone install? or you don't have the means to bend the cage or a welder? is it a functional cage? frame ties? nhra legal or.....? fot prebent kits that a person can buy, here is a link to some kits, a local shop could install. shipping could be prohibitive. a local rockcrawling / 4 x 4 shop or rock bouncer could help you out as well...
http://www.swracecars.com/store/Roll...OSCAR_492.aspx a local certified welder could install. good luck in your search |

Wow, I know a muffler guy down south on Old San Antonio road that can make it. I don't know if he would be interested in such a project though. He has built his own cages and drag car frames.

By made I mean I want to drop the truck off and something custom built from the ground up, not a kit anyone can buy. The cage would need to be fully functional, with frame ties and maybe nhra legal, i say maybe because i don't want to have to climb over the side rails every time i get in the truck. That's why I liked the cage smitty's built so much is because it's down low.I really would like to make it myself but I don't have the means to bend the tubing, have the welder and chop saws and everything but the bender. I could buy the manual bender for 500 bucks or something but at the same time I don't have the knowledge of actually every having built a cage.
