83 stepside exhaust tip factory?

I just picked up this 83 step side. It has this exhaust tip on it. I could believe it'something unique to steppers? Is it some kind of OEM guard?

I dont believe that is factory. Is it welded on? The first one is close to factory location.

Re: 83 stepside exhaust tip factory?

The way the pipe is cut under the tip looks factory. Tip does not.

Re: 83 stepside exhaust tip factory?

I seem to recall it might be factory.

Stepside only, and V8 only (for those applications with the dual tailpipes).

My 83 stepside 305/700r4 truck had that from the factory. It's definitely a stepside only thing.
