Best gas tank replacement behind seat.

I have searched and read multiple threads.

Most end up with recommendations to move to rear mount tank. I will do that one day but want to replace behind seat tank now and will swap later. Lots of reasons for this but a few are my air bag pump and tank are mounted in rear now where relo tanks go. I don't want to move that till I replace that air bag setup with the porterbuilt brackets and twin pumps and tanks. Can't do that now.

I read some that got a tank from lmc and had lots of problems.

Are there any companies that sell replacements that are less prone to fitment issues?

There are sales to be had, yes. The shipping will erase any sale savings. Rock Auto on the other hand.......will give a competitive everyday price and economical shipping. Poke around for a promo code to and get an additional 5% off. I am happy with the price&shipping of my Spectra brand(Canada)behind the seat tank from RA.

Re: Best gas tank replacement behind seat.

I had a local radiator shop put my tank through the "renew" process. No shipping charges.

That way I kept the original tank and didn't have to worry about any issues of bolt holes in the wrong place or too thin of metal. I have not put it back in yet so I haven't tested it.

Since UPS dented the heck out of a fender I had shipped last fall I would fear a gas tank coming on a truck unless it was packed into a wooden crate.

Re: Best gas tank replacement behind seat.

Does anyone think most of the lmc and brothers tanks are made by the same Chinese factory or could fit be better from one to another?

I will check out rock auto. Have ordered jeep parts from there and been happy.

Just installed mine. I bought it off eBay from a company called "Radiator Classics" I believe. It was $166.80 shipped to my door! Absolutely no fitment issues at all! Looks identical to the factory tank.

Re: Best gas tank replacement behind seat.

I put a Spectra brand(Canada) in last summer. The only issue I had was the Fuel Neck wasn't at the perfect angle. Had to persuade it a little. Other then that it looks pretty good and works great. Bending a new fuel line was awesome too (Sarcasm). Get an NOS Cab Seal Rubber Grommet. There are venders on our board that sells them. I ordered one from Ecklers and 1 summer it totally split and fell apart. Sadly, I have another Eckler's one (was a gift). We shall see.

I have a good tank that's only 2 years old, you can have it cheap ($25) I am in north Tampa FL. I am not sure how close NE Florida is to me.

But if I was you I would move your pump and tank and do the job once and for all.

PM me if you want the tank.

Thank you for the offer.

That would work perfectly if you were closer. I am in Jacksonville. So about 4 hours. If it comes down to it, I will let you know.

I am looking at what it would take to do the under bed now due to shipping on the behind seats. I have to move a lot of stuff. But was going to do it eventually. Just didn't want to be forced to do it now.
