Blazer top with slider windows on Craigslist

I know there are a few people looking for these. Not mine, just passing it along.

Re: Blazer top with slider windows on Craigslist

Hey guys,

I just got a 72 GMC Jimmy a couple weeks ago missing the top.

Would this be a good start for it? I live about 60 minutes from where this is located.

If the top is in usable shape then yes I would go get it ASAP. Whether or not it will bolt right up to your Jimmy is another issue as two designs were available in 72: a single wall top and a double wall top. A single wall top can be made to work on a K5 originally equipped with a double wall top and vice versa and some 72s may have provisions for both. Either usable design is preferable to no top at all even if held only for the future sale of your Jimmy (if you do).

The owner has removed the side windows to ship so maybe he'd let the top go for less than asking price. Replacement glass shouldn't be hard to get.

Re: Blazer top with slider windows on Craigslist

Is there any sure way to tell which it came with?

I read on LMC that the double wall tops had bolts that went it from the bottom, so I'm thinking that it had threaded holes inside the top, where the single walled had bolts from the top and the blazer had threaded holes.

You are correct in how the two tops are attached. Does your K5 have threaded nutserts for the bolts? If so then I suspect it was single wall equipped.

Re: Blazer top with slider windows on Craigslist

Need some advice!

Just called on the top again, and he sold the glass out of it, and the rear hatch is completely busted. Should I still get it? He dropped the price to $50.

Re: Blazer top with slider windows on Craigslist

$50 for a top in decent condition is better than no top. You can have a hatch shipped but not so with a top. Get the top and find a hatch, which can be shipped. If in the meanwhile you find a top complete with hatch you're only out $50 and I'm sure someone else would take the top for that cost - like the member in BC who just had his ruined by a cord of wood! If I were as close as you that top would be long gone.

BTW - I got the side glass only, shipping the hatch glass also was too pricey. One for the two top designs needed the opening for the window enlarged for use with at least one design of slider windows (not the slider type shown though). I suspect this is the case with 1x wall tops but trying to confirm that now.
