4/6 97 RCSB drop.... 295/50/15 ???

Im wanting to use a rather unused set of 295/50/15 mounted on a set of the 454 SS rims with a 4/6 drop.

Will I have rubbing issues on the front? I know im gonna have to trim drip rails on the control arms. Been thereon my 84.

Wondering if anyone has tried running them on the front and if there were issues. I can roll fenders if needed.

Pics would be nice if anyone has some.

295/50 is really too big/wide a tire for a 7" rim. The tire on and 8 or 9 in rim would probably clear the rear depending on the wheels backspacing. I highly doubt it would clear the front.

i had 255/60/15 on a 4-6 drop with thoose wheels and the tires would rub the fender lip on dips in the road

x2....

Just for reference, this is my old '93...the first two pics are with 275/60 on 10" rims...the 3rd & 4th pics are 295/50 with 10" rims...the rear only had a 2" shackle drop...the ground effects make it look a bit lower, but you can tell pretty well how wide they are

I've seen 295/50s squeezed onto stock 7" wheels. It looks strange and it's not something I'd do.

Re: 4/6 97 RCSB drop.... 295/50/15 ???

I like the way it looks squeezed on a 7" rim. The reason I ask is because I already have the 295s mounted on the sport rims. They are currently on my 84 which is torn down right now.

I ran 295s on all four corners of my 84 and had problems with rubbing when I was using the belltech 3" drop spindles. I switched to a cheaper set of 2.5 drop and never really had issues after that.

I will just have to see if it can be done, but more than likely I will have to break down and get smaller front tires.

Re: 4/6 97 RCSB drop.... 295/50/15 ???

Offset will determine if they will rub or not. I had a 90 GMC that I lowered, think it was 3" but it's been over 10 years. I had 17x8s up front, and IIRC ran a 255/55/17 and didn't rub anywhere. Buddy had a stock truck and ran 8" rally's with 31s and didn't rub....

I like the 295/50. I have them on the back of my 79 Malibu on vette rally's and they look FAT!!!!!!
