1953 Burb build

My original thread was all jacked up so I am starting a new one.
I picked up a '53 suburban in Long Island
Not bad , I was told it came from Ca. but I cant confirm that.
Toe boards have been replaced as have the inner kick panels. The rear fenders have had some work and I would like to replace the passenger side. Rear doors , passenger side is great the drivers side needs work and again I would like to replace if possible.
Fenders and hood are great as is the roof. The doors are good except for the bottoms inside but that is a easy fix.
Wood floor needs replaced as does the floor on the passenger side .
Plans are to put in a LS motor, mustang II and leaf springs in the back. No bags but get it down to about 5" off the ground.
Me along with my FIL and uncle will do all the work and a buddy will do the paint. Hope to have it at his shop ready for paint by Aug-Sept time frame.
I have built or helped build 7 or 8 trucks, always used Camaro clips and small blocks. The mustang II and LS will be different for us but I like the challenge.
I am sure I will have many questions.
The suspension is in boxes in the garage as is the LS just need to get cracking on this thing....but that damn thing called work continues to get in the way
Almost forgot.....finding the turn signal bezels is like finding the winning lottery ticket

Re: 1953 Burb build

last few days making progress.
New wood floor in place. The plans are to have 4-5 chrome strips over the floor that will be stained and have clear over it. One strip will cover the seam.
Anyone doing this you will make life easier with a hand held router or one for your dremel. Route the edges and the cross members

Re: 1953 Burb build

Looks good. I will be interested to see your patch panel for the driver side quarter panel. I saw in a pervious pic that you cut it out. I need to do the same to mine, and I was kicking around making my own patch.

Let me know how you repair yours.

Thanks
Marc

Marc,
It is the same panel as the lower door. LMC item 38-7920 will fit in and is only $35

Cool deal. I was thinking that it would be tha same curve as the door. The quarter patch that I found from Jim Carter was $59.00. I like the price of your solution better.

Thanks
Marc

Makes a big difference when things are cleaned up and some new shiny parts are installed.

Re: 1953 Burb build

Looks good. I like the roll pan. Are you not using the rear splash panel that goes between the bumper and body? If your interest in selling it I would like to talk to you about it.

Thanks
Marc

Re: 1953 Burb build

Got a radiator at a good price that fits perfect and also got the GMC radiator top sent in from Alaska

Never noticed just by looking how much of a difference there is from a Chevy and a GMC rad support.
In any case Sparky and the gang at RnD did a great job and this will fit GMC and they will also make them for Chevy. Same rad just mounting points are slightly different
