The big block is going to make more power....especially if it is a 454....but parts are more expensive and you will be lucky to get more than 12mpg out of almost any big block

So you have a rebuilt 300 mile 350?

If it is a stock motor...it should have a small cam and be good for low end power. Keep in mind it won't make full power until it is broke in...full break in will happen after 4000 or so miles. Assuming your carb and ignition is in good shape, and you want more low-end power, you will proably want to do some simple upgrades...if you have single exhaust, switch to a set of free-flowing dual pipes, if you already have duals a pair of headers might make a difference in low end power, maybe a aftermarket dual plane intake manifold, and if you have a 2bbl carb, a switch to a 4bbl would make quite a difference.

If you want a lot of take off power, you're looking about 10 feet too far forward.

Change the gears to a deeper ratio. That'll do it.

okay to confuse things abit...how about a "BIG" small block...383/396/406/427/454?

Or a "BIG" big block? 496/502/540/572/632?
