1965 k10 married sm465 np205 crossmember

Sorry if I'm starting a new thread, I tried searching but could find nothing. So here is my question I have a 1965 k10 and am swapping a 70's married 465 and np205 I am using the 70's crossmember but it seems like the crossmember is tilted because the bottom flange meets where the frame angles up in the front. It seems that the crossmember should be level both top and bottom. Has anyone used this crossmember? And what modifications need to be done to have everything sit correct?

Re: 1965 k10 married sm465 np205 crossmember

your crossmember in neither truck should be that far forward. Can you post a picture of the crossmember for us to see. The crossmember should sit right under the cab on either truck and is a ways away from the tip up on the front of the frame.

Re: 1965 k10 married sm465 np205 crossmember

It sounds like you are trying to put a different crossmember under the bellhousing as was in that '65 K10 originally. When upgrading to the newer married SM465/205 you will want to remove the original bellhousing crossmember and install a crossmember under the transfer case adapter as it was in the original application for that trans and transfer case combo.
