Lost VIN Plate
It seems that my VIN plate for my 69 has disappeared. I do not have a title since I got the truck out of a farmers field. Does anyone know if there is someone who stamps VIN plates if you give them the VIN number? I have access two other plates but I would like to have the one that matches the frame.

IN CALIFORNIA,,,,im pretty sure,,,,"Duplicating VIN" plates is a felony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lost VIN plate means you are SOL! I don't think you'll find anyone willing to break the law and stamp a plate for you. If so you could have them make up plates for any car you want to steal and then just pull off the old one and put on the new one. Second thought, that's a good business idea...

Trimtags.com will not do it. Go to Datatags.com. The guy there will do it but you have to have proof of ownership, ect. He told me I needed to get a blank one to stamp. I had to have them special made. I had to get 20 done in order to get just one, so I will be putting the rest on ebay soon. There for 71-71 though. They make them for the older trucks I think.

Hey,
Don't worry! You're okay! The POS painters took the VIN tag off of my '75 when they were painting, and then lost it. I called the state police, VIN devision. They sent a couple of troopers out and looked under the truck to find the VIN on the frame, and then the state made a NEW VIN tag for me! The only way you'll have to worry is if your VIN is already registered someplace (i.e. Someone took your VIN tag and used it). And since you have the actual FRAME of the vehicle, they're in trouble, not you!! Good luck Brian |
