81-87 Big Block Fuel Lines...

My dually has an electric fuel pump that I'd like to switch back to a stock mechanical style (that thing is noisy and the wiring is a mess, I'd rather just have stock)

Anyhow, the fuel line for it runs outside the frame rail. I've only ever dealt with smallblocks and my diesel, they all have the fuel lines run inside the frame rail. Is the outside the frame line stock for a big block? I can get a pic tomorrow, but its really dark now...

i dont know but id probally reroute the fuel lines to the inside of the frame. i had a friend that bought an 84 with a diesel and the fuel lines were on the outside of the frame and we re routed them to the inside. hope that helps some.

Fuel Line

Mine are in stock location, and outside of frame. I've not heard of any problems with this design yet.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Did the big block fuel lines normally go outside the frame? Does anyone have a pic?

That's what I'm trying to tell you, it is routed outside the frame rail in the stock location on my factory big block C10. Maybe I don't understand the question

Ok, let me try to rephrase this, I wasn't clear. I want to know what the factory fuel lines look line from the tank (or tank switch) to the fuel pump on a factory 454 truck with a return style meachnical fuel pump. To my best understanding, the early trucks (like my 75) didn't use fuel pumps with return lines. I would guess the change came around 1981, but that's a guess. My 83 doesn't have the original fuel line routing or pump and I want to put it back to stock.

Fuel Lines

I'll make an effort to take pictures of my lines this weekend, and my 76 did not have a return line. They will be from tank to engine compartment, motor is on stand.
