firewall pad poll, what did you use?

so I bought a firewall pad from classic parts of America. I'm not too keen on its fit. Where have you guys bought yours? How well did it fit?

I used HushMat. Better sound dampening and heat insulation. Probably not as cheap and looks nothing like original, but wanted something that would work.

Re: firewall pad poll, what did you use?

I used FatMat. I welded up all of the holes in the firewall where the pad fasteners pop through, so the original style pad wasn't going to work anyway.

Re: firewall pad poll, what did you use?

Sorry no pics, since it's covered with carpet. But I did cover the whole bottom of the cowl, too, an area the factory pad doesn't cover. I also placed about 6 strips that were roughly 2" X 4" to the bottom side of the dash, which worked incredibly well to reduce noise or a 'tinny" sound. Still experimenting a little.
The part of these trucks that needs the most help with sound deadening and thermal insulating is impossible to get to- the roof, in between the inner and outer panel and also the "B" pillar behind the doors/upper cab corners.

Re: firewall pad poll, what did you use?

I have a hard plastic one that I got in a parts lot that I haven't put in yet. I'm going to put in some fat mat or something then put it in when the weater warms up. I think the guy I got it from said it was from LMC.

Re: firewall pad poll, what did you use?

We used Roof repair material from Home Depot, aluminum/butyl rubber (like dynamat but cheaper) and closed cell foam insulation (thermo king brand from home depot) ran it from the top of the firewall all over the floor, up the back of the cab) cost about $ 2.50 per sq ft for both products, truck is cool and quiet.......Kieth

since we covered the entire cab interior we did have to use a full rubber floor mat plus a reproduction stock rubber floor mat since the silver insulation and sound deadner would show if they were not covered)

Re: firewall pad poll, what did you use?

I will either shoot the floor and back wall with bedliner or just use the heavy duty undercoating we use at work. My roof interior is all metal and I like the look so, I'm undercoating the roof from the outside and painting over it. The last coat will go on with high air pressure and it lays on fairly smooth so it will be barely noticeable.

Digital pictures are free so the cost is in not taking them......haha Kieth

ps I am thinking about rearranging them and then making a directory of page numbers...........maybe when I retire..........hmmmmmmm

I forgot to mention we did undercoat the bottom of the cab, fenderwells, etc......rhino liner would probably have been better but the 3m undercoating was cheap and easy to do.
