Project 6 Point Oh

I've decided to start a build thread after working on my 72 K5 Blazer for almost two years. I was just going to get it drivable and not do a restoration, but I couldn't stop myself LOL. Now I'm in the process of a frame off restoration, and dropping in a 6.0 LQ9 and a 4L60. I don't get much time off from work, so the process is slow, but steady. I was a mechanic years ago and worked on tons of these old trucks, but I got out of the business way before LS motors were introduced, so I will be needing advice on that end. I've taken tons of pics along the way and will post a few. Three things I don't do are transmissions, and paint and body work. Everything else I plan on doing myself.

This is what it looked like when I went to buy it. Sitting outside with no top on, roll bar in backwards, wiring pulled out, no brakes, and barely running.
The truck looked good from a distance, but was really rough up close. The floor was toast but I couldn't tell because of a thick coat of fiberglass covering the damage. The gas door install was horrible and covered up by LOTS of bondo. The patch for the original gas neck hole was a thick layer of bondo too.

Got the double wall top back on it and got it home. I don't think the top had been on it in a long time. It had been outside with no top, exposed to the elements for no telling how long.

Looks like it used to be white. The SPID was gone, so I wasn't sure.

The wiring had more butt connectors and electrical tape than I'd seen in a while.

They had brazed a piece of metal behind the original gas neck hole, then filled the rest with bondo!!!
It looked like a hockey puck went in there.

That's gonna have to be replaced and redone correctly. So far this truck needs everything.
