73 - 87 rear spring mounts
So, I have an idea I want to run past the group here. What if I redesigned a set of front and rear spring hangers (for the rear leaf springs) that mounted tight to the side of the frame rails instead of offset like the factory hangers? I'm thinkin' I'd gain an extra 2 or 3 inches in width for wider tires

People do that already. They even inboardthem. TThe problem is only if you are towing and such, you will lose some stability from the rear and will want to run a sway bar in the rear to make up for it.

Or just on the bottom of the rail. Like an import truck.
Gain 3" more.

1-ton perches sit closer to the frame than 1/2 & 3/4-ton. I think about 1.5" on either side.
