My Temporary Wood Bed
This is my temporary wood bed until I get my other bed redone correctly. It consist of treated deck boards that we planed down to 3/4" and then I wood burned a little pic and stained and cleared.

Looks good. Mine's a piece of plywood as well. Been thinking about disassembling a large skid and using the wood for the bed this year. If not, I like the idea of using deck boards. I'd personally be scared to burn the wood for fear of catching the entire truck on fire.

I'm giving some thought to using a plastic flooring that looks like wood but does not rot. sort of a 1 time fix. Yours looks very nice.

Thanks guys. I have another complete rust free bed that I am going to redo. This one should suffice for now. My dad came up with this fix since the PO had used a sheet of 1/8" steel which wasn't even cut square. Then my uncle figured I should at least add "my touch" to it while I was doing it.

I know the main subject is wood, but before I got into these older trucks again,I was into them in my teens then lost intrest as my shop dealt mainly with late model stuff. When my buried my second [and last ] brother it renewed my intrest in this body style cause he loved them so. Now that brings me to this post years ago my cousin was driving one of these trucks with a step bed I didn't even notice the year cause I wasn't into them , but his bed wood was real bad and I took one of my late model beds and my plasma cutter and a tape and a few other pieces of scrap and put a hidden bolt late model metal floor in that step bed. It took me probably 3/4 of the day with him helping and visiting, when it was done it looked really good like the General would have been proud. It was a bed floor out of a very late truck I had done a bunch of low mile roll overs that needed whole beds and had the floors that were like new. that wood for temp looks super good as well. Jim
