Yellow with blue interior??

I checked out a local truck today and the spid shows 1441FC paint and by looking at the firewall and under the corner of the spid it was a school bus yellow color. But it also had 4606AA blue vinyl trim. That had to be hideous! Lol. Neat truck none the less! I'm at work, I'll post pics when I get home.

Re: Yellow with blue interior??

Don't get too excited. I forgot to mention that somebody repainted it white so the only yellow left is on the firewall. I will have a few pics of that and the spid. The way some of these trucks were ordered amazes me. Always fun to find an oddball!

Re: Yellow with blue interior??

Haha! I've been trying to think of what kind of company would have been those colors! Maybe Union Pacific? It is a C/30 so I guess it's a possibility.

Come to think of it, two cab lights are missing. Possibly for brim clearance? It all makes sense now! Lol.

LOL! I think we're on the wrong track (not a pun on Union Pacific). Maybe it belonged to the LA Lakers or other team with those colors. Sports fanatics do some funny stuff ya know

Was it a GMC? They had some weird combos, like green with a red interior.

I bet that looked sharp!
Is it just me, or does the word "Paint" as a description seem odd? Oh, it's a 70.

Re: Yellow with blue interior??

Out of curiosity I looked for the color but can't find that code. Found one of ours with the color I think it was. My eyes don't see school bus yellow. Because the clear coat is missing, I think the shade would be darker. this yellow http://www.customclassictrucks.com/e.../photo_24.html

very nice

Re: Yellow with blue interior??

West Virginia University colors!

I'm confused by the code, too. The GM paint code should be a 5xx number. The fleet yellow (school bus) was also offered on the production selections as 519 Yellow and sometimes Dark Yellow. On my computer it looks like good old Ochre, but that code# is 511. I guess it could be dirty school bus yeller, but still don't understand that code. If it's a special color it sure is close to stock ochre. Seems odd to order a special color just for a barely detectable shade different. Also,Special Paint is normally specified up in the right hand (SE) box with no code offered in the description.

There was clear coat used on these trucks from factory. Everything was single stage back then

Remember... you could order custom colors and whatever interior. We did that through our local GMC dealer back in the day.

Special-K, did you mean to say 'There was no clear coat used on these trucks from factory.' I wondered if that might be the case after posting.

I always thought this GMC was interesting, white over light yellow... Factory stake bed with green interior.

Re: Yellow with blue interior??

It looks a little different in the picture than in person. Initially I though it was ochre until i saw the spid. Then I looked at the firewall again and it does look a few shades different. I also have a truck that was factory light yellow and white and it wasn't even close to this color. Looked like the one posted above. I got a call today, and may actually be purchasing this one soon now!

Re: Yellow with blue interior??

Well, I'm heading out with the trailer in the morning to go give it another look and possibly take it home. I'm probably over paying but I think if nothing else i could part it out for what he's asking. Especially with the 350/4speed combo. Really been wanting to build a C/30 though so who knows! I may use it as a donor for a 3/4 to 1ton conversion. Ill post pics if i haul her home!

Re: Yellow with blue interior??

Well, I probably overpaid, but here she is. It's a little rough but all there and running well. Has a 350 with a 4 speed. The rockers need to be replaced and the fender under the battery box has some rust as usual. Drip rails and corners look good. bottom of the doors and floorboards are still perfect. Somebody painted the grill black which I plan to strip off and they put a redneck push bumper on it. Still not sure what my plans are for this one. Here are a couple more pictures. In one you can see the factory yellow next to the original blue visors. It still doesn't look the same in pictures but the yellow is definitely not the Ochre color.
