65 Suburban 4x4 question?
I found a 65 Suburban 4x4 with 8 lug axles front disc power brakes and power steering. It has a 350/350 trans. My question is, when did they start making 3/4 Suburbans? with front disc brakes?? I know then engine is wrong but not sure about the rest.
Thanks Mike |

Re: 65 Suburban 4x4 question?
Not sure on the production dates of the 3/4 burbs....but the disk brakes would not have been factory. Power steering could be factory, dealer or previous owner installed.

Re: 65 Suburban 4x4 question?
Yeah, I kinda thought so, but I'm having trouble finding production numbers, so I thought I would ask. I read one article saying that 1967 was the first year to offer 3/4 Suburbans, but I haven't found anything else to confirm or deny this...

not stock. 65 would have 6 lug dana44 in the ft and a 12 bolt in the rear.

Re: 65 Suburban 4x4 question?
Upto an 87 front axle will bolt right in. That's what I used on my 63 4x4.
Be sure to check out our 60-66 Burb section.

Re: 65 Suburban 4x4 question?
on the ser.#(vin) is it a 5C or 5K that it starts with?. that will tell you whether or not it is an orig 4 x 4 or has been tampered with to make one.

Re: 65 Suburban 4x4 question?
The owner sent me pictures of the vin tag....it was C146. It's a 2wd on a later model chassis. I passed on it. Thanks guys for all your info.
